Giorgio's Italian
If you're around Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, and craving some authentic Italian charm, Giorgio's Italian on Sheffield Road might just be the place that ends up on your regular rotation. This isn’t just another pasta-and-pizza joint-it’s the kind of spot that blends a welcoming, family-run vibe with a menu that covers all the Italian comfort food bases, and then some.
Let’s start with what hits you first-the aroma. You’ll catch that warm, garlicky fragrance the moment you walk past the wheelchair-accessible entrance. Whether you're here for a quiet solo dinner, a catch-up with friends, or a proper date night, the ambiance is cozy, polished, and laid-back. It's a place where the servers actually chat with you, not just take your order. And if you're particular about accessibility, the restaurant is fully equipped with accessible seating and restrooms, making it inclusive and comfortable for everyone.
Now, the food. Oh, the food. There’s something comforting about seeing Spaghetti Bolognese on a menu that isn’t trying too hard. But Giorgio’s doesn’t stop there. Their Calzone Piccante packs a punch with spicy fillings folded inside that golden, bubbly crust. If you’re more into cream-based pastas, the Fettucini Aragosta E Gamberi-lobster and prawns in a rich sauce-definitely earns repeat visits. And for seafood lovers, the Pan-Fried Seabass with Vegetables strikes a balance between delicate and flavorful.
The Garlic Bread with Cheese and Tomato, including a gluten-free option, deserves a category of its own. It's the kind of starter that disappears in seconds. And let’s talk risotto-Mushroom Risotto here isn’t just an afterthought for vegetarians. It’s rich, earthy, and perfectly cooked.
If you're chasing comfort, you can’t miss the Lasagna-layered just right with meat and béchamel. Or the Penne Pollo Chorizo, a combo that’s bold, smoky, and creamy in all the right ways. Craving something from the oven? Their Pepperoni Pizza and Salami-topped pies are hot, crispy-edged, and built for sharing.
Of course, it’s not an Italian meal without dessert. Giorgio’s delivers here, too. The Tiramisu is as classic as it gets-soft layers, proper espresso kick, and not overly sweet. But the Crème Brulee might catch you off guard with its delicate crackle and velvety smoothness underneath. Sweet tooth still not satisfied? Pair your dessert with a French Coffee or just go straight for the great coffee and cocktails they’re known for. The wine list is pretty extensive too, especially if you’re a fan of rich reds or light sparkling whites that pair effortlessly with seafood or pasta.
What also stands out is their ability to cater to different dining preferences. From late-night food cravings to healthy options and small plates, Giorgio’s Italian strikes a balance between indulgent and approachable. Vegetarian diners are covered, and there’s a clear care taken in how each dish is presented and served. Oh, and yes-they serve alcohol, spirits, and beer, so there's something for every kind of diner.
You can dine in for a full experience or opt for takeaway if you're after that Giorgio’s magic at home. Either way, there’s a genuine charm to this place-it’s not fussy, it’s not flashy, but it absolutely knows what it’s doing. Giorgio’s Italian doesn’t just serve food-it serves memories, tucked between layers of pasta, sips of smooth red wine, and laughter-filled meals.
Reviews
Lovely meal, we had garlic bread with cheese and tomatoes as a starter (it's definitely a starter to share). I had the pancetta and chicken pasta as a main and the Panna cotta for dessert. Staff were nice and it was a lovely atmosphere. Felt very safe eating there. Would go again.
Great food as usual and considering how madly busy they were it didnt take long for our food to come at all!
The restaurant was well lit and nicely presented from the outside. Unfortunately not welcomed much since it was a busy night. We had to shuffle through the madness and await seating which is fine. We was placed right near the pizza oven which was nice to see freshly baked pizza, but unfortunately VERY cold! Like I was in Italian Alps and not a restaurant. We did not get asked about drinks or food for 22 minutes. We did indicate that my wife was gluten free but somehow she did not alert us that the chocolate fondant was NOT gluten free luckily my wife questioned it. Therefore the female chef doing Pizzas had intervened and offered chocolate brownie. The starters was amazing and truly felt authentic taste with great flavours. The mains were beautiful with lovely sauce. The desserts were gorgeous with such chocolate aura, it was nice and rich, with ice cream to smooth it down. The food without a doubt is super tasty without a doubt. Alot of the service needed we had to call out which makes it difficult in busy days. Simple things like we asked for water so they gave a jug but no glasses, when I wanted to pay the bill, I wanted to pay by card and I asked do I need to go to the bar or pay where I am. I was asked it can be brought to me if I wanted. As a restaurant just needs a little thought of let's make the customers comfortable and just bring the card machine to them. I know service charge is optional but you feel bad for staff working hard to deny them. The toilets were colder than the restaurant but let's see. I will becoming back to see what the food tastes like again.
We've visited Giorgio's from the very start and why I've never left a review I honestly don't know. We always receive a friendly welcome from all the staff, great food, there's an extensive menu and service is excellent. We visit on various days (Except Tues & Wednesday obviously) Half price pasta and pizza is available on Sunday & Monday and with respect it can be very busy on those two days, so patience is a virtue. I can't recommend Giorgio's highly enough, it's one of the best Italian restaurants in Chesterfield. ????????
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was top-notch—our server was friendly and attentive. The food was incredible, especially the pizza which was cooked to perfection. The drinks were also excellent, and the dessert was the perfect finish. While it’s on the pricier side, the quality is well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and service!
